Technology

The innovations we’ve developed for a sustainable life afloat go far beyond solar propulsion and battery storage—but those are where it all begins.

Solar panels

The solar photovoltaic panels installed along the roof generate up to 6kW of renewable energy on widebeam boats and 3kW on narrowboats. This clean, cost-free power is channelled through dual solar inverters and controllers, which recharge the batteries and drive the electric motors.

Batterybank
Battery storage

The heart of our system is a high-capacity battery bank that ensures reliable performance all year round. With 96kWh of energy storage, widebeam boats can cruise for 10 hours without sunlight or power domestic systems for up to 18 days. Narrowboats are equipped with 48kWh, offering half the capacity but the same efficiency. Regardless of the weather, solar panels continuously recharge the batteries, ensuring energy independence every day.

Electric motors

We collaborate with Agni Motors to deliver customised electric motors that are efficient, robust, and require minimal maintenance. These motors provide near-silent cruising at a top speed of 7 knots, with an ideal travel pace of 3–4 knots for maximum comfort and efficiency.

Triple glazing & insulation

Expansive windows and doors allow natural light to fill the boat’s interior. Designed with triple glazing, they ensure excellent insulation and noise reduction. Coupled with walls and floors insulated three times more effectively than conventional boats, this system keeps interiors warm in winter and pleasantly cool in summer.

09
Rainwater harvesting

Rainwater collected from the roof is channelled into a filtration system that processes it in three stages, making it suitable for use in dishwashers, washing machines, and bathrooms. This sustainable solution reduces dependency on external water sources, enhancing self-sufficiency.

Heating

Our boats utilise an Eco Boiler stove, an advanced log burner paired with a buffer tank for on-demand heat storage. For fuel, we recommend eco logs made from recycled wood waste, but pellet boilers are also available for automated, clean heating. Both options ensure eco-friendly warmth throughout the year.

07
Heat recovery ventilation

Much like eco-friendly Passivhaus homes, our boats are equipped with heat recovery ventilation systems. These systems use the warm air being expelled to preheat the fresh air being drawn in, significantly reducing heating needs and conserving energy.

Composting toilet

Our Swedish-designed Separett composting toilets eliminate the need for chemical waste or traditional sewage tanks. Completely waterless, these no-flush loos are easy to manage, and the compostable waste can be safely recycled as nutrient-rich compost in as little as six months.

08
Energy efficient appliances

Minimising energy use is vital for sustainable living. That’s why our boats are equipped with LED lighting and energy-efficient, A+ rated appliances. From induction hobs to washing machines, fridges, and dishwashers, every onboard device is designed to perform without compromising energy efficiency.

Water Treatment Plant

Our cutting-edge water treatment system ensures clean water for daily use. By drawing from the river or canal, this multi-stage filtration process removes contaminants and sterilises the water using UV technology. It provides a dependable, eco-conscious alternative to bottled or tanked water while supporting off-grid living.
